This week's theme is the moon. This pack includes morning work for Monday to Friday and the number of the day sheet (which can be printed out for each day of the week). Week nine: May 25 - 29
This pack includes morning work for Monday to Friday and the number of the day sheet (which can be printed out for each day of the week). There are a variety of literacy-based worksheets including a journal entry, a picture writing prompt, and a reading comprehension activity. There are also three math worksheets to provide further addition and subtraction practice. Some of the subtraction questions are challenging and will likely require students to utilize a strategy such as drawing pictures or creating a number line.

There are a variety of literacy-based worksheets including a journal entry, jolly phonics "oi" sheet, and a fun shadow detective activity which includes some math. Additionally, there are two math worksheets to practice adding doubles.
Review the jolly phonics songs and actions before completing the "oi" worksheet which can be found in the homework package.
After watching The Day I Met My Shadow or The Black Rabbit complete the story map found in the homework package. Once the Story map has been completed please upload it to FreshGrade for assessing.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
The themes for this week are birds and Mother's Day. For math we will be using the strategy of pictures to add and subtract, as well as begin to explore doubles.

Mother's Day is around the corner! Create a beautiful card to show your mom, or someone special in your life, that you love them.
This week's STEAM package focuses on the theme of birds. There are three bird related activities - nest building challenge, bird beak exploration, and make your own bird finders (binoculars). Additionally, there is a recipe for sidewalk chalk paint which can be used for one of the physical and health education (PHE) activities.
For this week's physical and health education there are two math based activities that can be adapted in several ways. These games can be played inside or out, and can be changed to practice different skills. For a quick brain break, there are bird themed movement cards.
Week five: April 27 - May 1
This week's theme is gardens and flowers. All of the literacy activities for the week are inspired by this theme, as well as one of the STEAM projects. In addition, we will continue to learn about shapes in math. The majority of the outdoor/movement activities are a continuation of shape exploration.

Not only are these videos educational and entertaining, the information in the videos will help students complete some of the literacy activities found in the homework package.

This activity can be printed off or adapted to be completed on a blank piece of paper or journal.
CVC stands for consonant vowel consonant. CVC words are great for pre-readers and beginner readers. Readers are able to apply their letter sound knowledge to sound out and read words. CVC words help readers practice blending sounds to make words.

It's fine arts week at LPS. Even through we can not be together in person we can still take this opportunity to explore and create fine art. Linked above are two art projects inspired by famous artists. Have fun learning about these artists or pick one of your own. Be sure to share your creation!

Scribble Stones is a story written and illustrated by Diane Alber. It is an adorable story about a rock finding it's place in the world and spreading happiness. (Please be mindful that the story is played through Youtube and may have advertisements). After listening to the story, you can make your own scribble stone and/or make a scribble stones story where you create a scribble and write a story. If you do not have dice at home, use the link to create one.

This week I will be assigning a collection of books talking about shapes, as well as a colllection of books inspired by Earth Day!
Here are a few fun activities inspired by Earth Day! You could make an Earth Day collage, do a water pollution experiment, learn about the water cycle, or make dandelion play dough.
Enjoy some fun outdoor activities to celebrate Earth Day! Use items found in nature to make 2D shapes and 3D objects or explore nature using play dough. Additionally, take a break and relax by doing some shape yoga.

This week we will be continuing to develop addition strategies in math by practicing solving problems using pictures, and breaking numbers from their whole into parts. For language arts, we will return to learning the Jolly Phonics letter sounds. This week we will learn about the two sounds that “th” makes (eg: thumb and there). Additionally, there will be opportunities to practice reading and writing.
For many of the activities there are worksheets or templates that can be printed off. If you do not have access to a printer you can still complete most of the activities either on a separate paper or orally.

Using a toilet paper roll as your base, create a person or animal. This will be an ongoing activity – I encourage everyone to complete this project if able to.
We are incredibly lucky to live in such a wonderful place with magnificent wildlife all around us. I have designed a nature exploration activity to encourage students to get outside, be active, and explore their local environment. Additionally, I have attached a nature scavenger hunt for additional exploration.

Week two: April 6-10
The goal this week is to ease the kids into learning from home, as much as your schedules allow. Please don't feel like you have to go through ALL of the activities. I have provided a range of activities with the hope that everyone will be able to find something they can use or adapt. I recognize that providing an education from home has many challenges, and my hope is to support that by giving you valuable resources addressing the most critical skills your children will need for next year.

The "Easter Guided Drawing Videos" is a link to a website we often use in class that provides tutorials showing how to draw various animals and items. The kids really enjoy it, especially when they get to put their own spin on the drawings!

EPIC! is an online resource that allows students to access a collection of books straight from a computer, tablet, or phone. I have set up a class account which will require a password. I will be sending out an email with the password by April 7th. If you have not received an email please let me know. This week take some time to set up your account and explore! In weeks to come I will be assigning specific books to students to help with critical literacy skills or to supplement other learning opportunities.
STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) are hands on projects that help to develop a variety of critical skills such as: critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and cooperation. The link above provides a few Easter STEM suggestions. My hope is that by providing a variety of different projects you may find one or two that you are able to complete using materials you already have at home. Enjoy creating.
